7 THINGS TO HELP YOUR JOURNEY WITH MEDITATION BE MORE ZEN



I have talked a lot about how meditation has helped me so I am going to name 7 THINGS THAT HELPED ME feel confident and know that you aren't doing meditation wrong. Essentially I am just covering the basics that I researched when I wanted to know how meditation worked. It will get your feet wet and help you have a little fundamental understanding that will bring you confidence if you begin to meditate!






1. LAY DOWN, SIT UP, WEAR 10 socks or LAY IN THE SAND.


Contrary to what you might already believe or think there is no right or wrong way to meditate. That being said what I mean is unless specifically instructed for a certain mediation you can lay in your bed, you can sit down with your feet up, you can lay on the grass, be barefoot, or wear 13 pairs of socks and your mediation wouldn't make much of a difference.






2. BE COMFORTABLE!



Whether you are enjoying a peaceful guided meditation with your eye opens or closed just know that if it feels right then it probably is. You will notice many times your body psychically starts to align itself. For me, I always feel slouched over at first but by the time I am on my 5 chakras, my mind feels like it's pulling me up.


3. Let your eyes stay open and fixed at a point if you need them!


This was always the hardest part for me. I felt like my eyes couldn't' stay shut and I would overthink so much. If this happens to you just look down at the floor a few feet ahead of you and look for colors during your chakra meditation or think of nothing and naturally I guarantee once you relax your eyes will shut without you even noticing. Sometimes we just must give ourselves a distraction like our sight to let go of our need to concentrate and fully relax.






4. Not every mediation works for Everyone. Try out a lot!




To be completely honest it took me years to find a mediation that I love and can grow in so many directions because of it. As I was told when I researched try chakra meditations. It aligns your body and hopes both physically and emotionally healing. The reason these are the ones I choose to show you as well is that there are so many different ones. There are thousands upon thousands of specific chakra meditation to guided to just music. I Love the guided as it reminds you of where your chakra is and what it does. Essentially it's a little reminder for me to stay focused because I am just listening while taking in information about why this chakra is balancing and what it does when it's balanced and working.



5. CONSISTENCY IS KEY. CONSISTENCY IS KEY.




Whether or not you do 5 minutes of the chakra mediation I mention is day 8 (check out here for a few tips of videos as well). Just do it every single day. It does not matter if you do 5 minutes or 60 minutes, that growth will naturally happen. Don't try to go in and do a 30-minute meditation and expect to consistently add that to your day from now on. If you have the willpower then good on you, but if you are like me start small. I was optimistically taken by surprise with how in just 5 days for me I moved onto the 17-minute video. But AGAIN everyone is different, there is no right timeline.




6. YOU CAN'T WIN AT MEDITATION, BUT YOU CAN WIN AT BEING CHILL.




There is no ultimate guide to being the winner of meditation because that is not the point. You can not go into mediation thinking about I am going to count exactly how many times I come out of focus and then expect to write down these results and begin a sort of experiment on your brain. THAT IS TOO MUCH PRESSURE. You win when you feel the amazing side effects that come with mediation. You will not give in to other emotions, and take the time to reflect on your own.


YOU WIN BECAUSE you chose to put your SELF-CARE FIRST.


It is winning unconditionally and forever.




7. If you are an empath this one is for you.


DON'T take for GRANTED the power of grounding. If you are an empath like me grounding is so important because it gets rid of any energy that is not yours and allows you to check in on yourself. It protects you from any outside energy or people that may be making you feel down or not like yourself. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT FOR EMPATHS. (check out this video for a great power grounding technique I use constantly)
